Mandala Lab at the Rubin Museum

City Aquarium recently completed a collaboration with the Rubin Museum in NYC, building a water feature for what is known as the Mandala Lab.

Designed by the arrchitecure & design firm Peterson Rich Office, the exhibit is an exploration of how one can channel negative emotions into positive ones. The water feature, built and installed by City Aquarium, is part of the "gong orchestra". Here, visitors to the museum can vent their anger by pounding one of eight gongs with a mallet. When struck, the gong submerges in the water, just as anger can dissipate into calmer emotions when expressed properly.

The exhibit opened 10/01/2021 and runs until 10/01/2031.
