Manhattan Hedgefund

City Aquarium was commissioned to design this aquarium out of high grade optically clear glass. The aquarium was developed for a hedge fund owner with in a commercial space located in mid-town Manhattan. The entire tank was built on site and over 10 pieces of glass were carefully transported up into this high rise building. Each fifteen foot panel weighed almost 1,000 pounds.

The system was designed to be a fish only system with live rock (FOWLR). The live rock was pulled from our private stocks and two reef bodies were sculpted. The life support is fully automated with in its own mechanical room. The remote room was fitted with floor drains, reverse osmosis systems, and service water closets. This 400 gallon system is home to several rare fish including a Polleni grouper, a three foot Kidako moray, an eighteen inch Blue-Face angel, and a striking Golden puffer from Hawaii. When the sharks out grow this tank, we remove them and replace them with smaller sharks. The larger sharks then go to other clients with larger aquariums.

This aquarium is serviced several times per week by our maintenance division.
